The President Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked Military Members to White House

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Tragic Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her previous school, informed the media. “She was caring, considerate and always willing to assist people.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event led the administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told the program that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey informed the audience at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
