Fans Demand Detainment of Man Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a man who leaped a fence and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast walked down a event pathway flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Well-being
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further response on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of the previous year in the UK, and scored a dozen Oscar nominations, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
