Battlefield 6's Casual Playlist Ignites Heated Debates Regarding Bots, Experience Points, and Queue Times

Recently, the game developers launched a fresh game mode called Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this option resembles the regular Breakthrough format but features several notable changes:

  • Every squad includes only 8 human participants, with the remaining made up of AI-controlled opponents.
  • Actions done by real players grant full XP, while AI activities provide lower rewards.
  • Just a pair of locations are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
  • Features like Player tags, accolades, and stat tracking are disabled.

In short, the playlist lives up to its name: it offers a casual take of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume it's a good idea, since it gives more options for gamers seeking different methods to have fun with the title. But, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that not everyone will be happy. In other words, many Battlefield 6 players are upset.

Player Reactions: From Fury to Praise

"Gamers prefer human opponents. Avoid making the errors of your competitors," states a response to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing concept," says a different user. At the same time, in community forums, a player remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this game," while someone else details everything they believe to be problematic in the game: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this bot mode."

On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players explaining how much they're liking the new mode. "It's very fun to practice, human participants prevent it from being a complete grind but it's quite laid-back," reads one Reddit comment. "This subreddit fails to see that there are players who have lives and don't play this game all the time. Allow them to strike a balance," states another. One reply on Twitter clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Constructive Criticisms and Community Feedback

Despite the support, there are constructive reasons to criticize the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it will make wait times more extended for other modes due to the sheer number of options currently available. Similarly, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots.

Lastly, a major complaints is that a previous feature was promised to provide full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they attempted to remove XP farming from the system. So this new playlist feels like the community meeting them halfway, as per forum feedback. Another describes this addition as the developers "dropping the ball so hard, I experienced so much fun in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Adjustments Occur?

Should Battlefield Studios has proven anything so far with Battlefield 6, it is that they're paying attention and acting on feedback. Tasks being too difficult got fixed rapidly, as did the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, if their data indicates this new playlist isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
